Guest guest
So I stumbled across a yogurt making blog the other day, yada yada, and it scared me enough to take the temperature of my Yogourmet yogurt maker the morning after I had put in a fresh batch (ambient room temperature = 69 degrees). My yogurt maker was 145 degrees F this morning. I'm pretty sure that kills the culture. So I'm pretty sure that also means not all the lactose was eaten in all my yogurt. Ugh. Anyways, the blogger said use a dimmer switch that you use for lamps. So, I'm off to the hardware store. ANbody need anything? jonathan

Is this the maker where it has water in it or something? I don't have that brand. If so, did you test the temp of the water or the actual yogurt? Guest guest
Mine never got that high. It got up to 120 or so. I use a dimmer switch. They can get high in very hot weather, or if the kitchen is hot from cooking, but 145 is way too high. Maybe you should call the company and ask.
