I found the terms confusing myself.. til I found this on Hiedi's site:

" Each individual surgeon seems to have a different name for the same

procedure. Some of those names are:

Distal Gastric Bypass with the Duodenal Switch (DGB/DS);

Biliopancreatic Diversion with the Duodenal Switch (BPD/DS);

Gastric Reduction with the Duodenal Switch(GR/DS);

Lateral Gastrectomy with the Duodenal Switch (LG/DS);.

Vertical Subtotal Gastrectomy with the Duodenal Switch (VSG/DS). "

Remember... a distal RNY is also a Distal Gastric Bypass.
