Shame be gone!! You have nothing to be ashamed of. You are taking the

appropriate steps to starting a new life for yourself and the result will be

a very happy, healthy you, and a compassion for others, because we have

walked in those shoes... and we know. There is no shame here, just support

and kindness... so rid the word 'shame' from your vocabulary, kay?

Fondly,

Loriann

Hi All -- Sharon in NY coming out of lurkdom -- I had

to respond to this

post because I just took a trip to FL and was most

humiliated ! First let

me say that I have been researching WLS for about 8

months and this group by

far is the MOST informative and most ON TOPIC ! I am a

pre-pre-op in that my

PCP wont refer me so I have started seeing another

primary care in hopes of

proving my need (302 lbs./ BMI 46 / high blood

pressure / major feet

problems / bad knee / short of breath) But the Florida

trip really put me

over the edge -- I needed seatbelt extentions for 4

plane trips and did not

get any beverages because the tray could not sit flat.

I smashed myself as

close to the window as I could to take up as little

space as possible. I

trudged though parks sweating and getting a rash

between my legs and the

most hurtful was not being able to ride 2 roller

coasters with my 11 year

old son. (thank goodness there were test seats to try

before waiting in

line !) This was all new to me since the last 60 lbs

came on when I gave up

smoking 16 months ago. I had to share this since I am

too ashamed to say it

aloud to anyone. I am ever grateful for this group of

wonderful people

willing to share your experiences. I hope my next post

will be that I am

scheduled for a consult ! Thanks for reading....

Sharon
