Guest guest
Dear Pam: Let me hold your hand a little. You are not losing weight because of the size of your tummy, you lose weight because of the malabsorbsion. A Pepsi a day will not hurt you as long as you are not adding a lot of other sugars with it, sugars will not only keep you from losing they will cause you to gain weight. Carbs are another problem for you for the first 18 months try to keep them to a minimum. You must keep your proteins up and drink lots of water and if you want to kick your weight loss off that plateau start eating some fats, yes fats! We absorb very little of the fats and I eat fats everyday it is always a part of everything I eat, now I did add them slowly as they will cause gas and loose stools but they will help you back to weight dropping off. If you would e-mail what you have eaten for the last couple of days including everything and I will see if I can help. But just to ease your mind you are not stretching your tummy yet but you do need to exercise beside walking, walking is great for you but you will find we have thicken bones but no muscle mass so it would be good for you to start now working with muscle building equipment. Hoped I helped a little. Huggles, Tiger Lake Female 160 lbs. BMI 21.7 224lbs gone 165 1/2 inches gone 6' -- 53yrs young Dr. Anthone@USC So. Calif. Guest guest
Hello everyone, I lost weight quickly during the first 5 weeks -- down 40 pounds -- but now I seem to be holding there. I am now 10 weeks, while my weight hasn't changed, my lean/fat mass percentages did change -- lean mass increased, fat mass decreased. Can the doctor tell if I have stretched my stomach and am eating too much without a lot of expensive tests -- I no longer have health insurance. Have any of you had similar problems? I am coming close to a very big panic attack. I don't eat large meals, I push protein constantly, and drink lots of water. I do drink an occasional Pepsi. I gave up cigarettes and sweets for this procedure, but I just crave my Pepsi. I used to drink 3 or 4 per day. My energy level is higher with the weight loss, but there's nothing like a Pepsi to get me going in the afternoon when I'd rather take a nap. And no, I can't drink diet, I have a horrible aversion to NutraSweet. It's almost like it burns my mouth and throat. I have also been pretty good about getting in at least one 1+ mile walk each day. I'm not a real morning person, but with the increased temps here in Central California already, it is hard to walk in the afternoon. My mom is great about going with me, we are trying to encourage each other to continue the exercise. We are a lot alike in our method of dealing with stress, sleep. We try to keep each other from hiding. Pamela -- USCMBA95
Guest guest
The same thing happend to me at 6 weeks, 40 pounds then nothing for three weeks. I was given the same advice as Tiger gave you, eat fat. I ate fritos and dip, now maybe it was the timing but I lost 4 pounds that week. Now at three months I have lost 52 pounds. consider this slow because for the last 6 weeks I have only lost 12 pounds. Not everybody likes these but, try eating Baken-ets, pork skins, it is loaded with fat has some protein, no carbs, and has that crunchy chip like taste. Try to drink unsweetened ice tea or sweetened with Stevea(sp?), instead of Pepsi. Teri
