Hi all....I am 9 days post-op and wondering if I should take off

these strips....I am afraid that if I pull them off I will also pull

off the scap too.....and ideas?

>>

bobbi jo...........do not remove those strips until you have completely

healed. premature removal could result in wound separation and a much larger

scar will result. however, if you wish to forego the pencil line scar for

something more manly, then by all means, strip away....sea ya

Bobbi-jo: I hated those steri strips so much. I felt

like i looked like frankenstein. i was out of the

hospital and wanted to be as normal as possible. I

think i finally pulled them off at about 10 days post

op. i did it in the shower, it seemed easier. Dr Quinn

said it was OK to pull them off as did my sister (a

doc too). No scabs came off with them.

Good Luck!

Bobbi-jo,

Dr Rabkin also uses steri-strips and according to the information on his site,

you're supposed to leave them on until they fall off, which is usually around 2

weeks or so.

BobbyJoe-

no- don't remove your steristrips unless your doctor told you to or

they are falling off( and scrubbing them in the shower is a no-no-

just wash gently over them)! They are helping to prevent any stress

to the wound edges so that your scar will be nice and skinny and pink.

Think of them as adhestive stitches. I'm glad you're doing so well

postop!

Hugs,

Liane
