Guest guest
hi all, Today I had my three week check up, no problems all is well, recovery going well, 31 pounds GONE!! I wanted to comment about my hospital stay at Mt Sinai, I had a private duty nurse EXCELLENT CARE: FLYNN, I totally reccommend her. One nurse on 10 E was exceptional (I think her name was Ann, or Margaret), others were in and out of the room and I was confused as to what was going on, but all went well for me. The surgeons saw me EVERY DAY: Dr. Gagner daily, twice with Dr. Quinn, Dr. DeChappel daily, Dr. Leibowicz, the anesthesiologist came to see me the day after surgery, great guy, the residents dropped in, too. Dr. Gagner came twice one day, once in the am, once in the the pm. They said I was the new poster boy, 2 hours for surgery, an extra 20 minutes to deal with adhesions from my twenty year old appendectomy. Poster boy or not, in recovery my blood pressure stayed low and they kept me there for a long while, 11am till 8pm, but the culprit was the anesthesia so they thought. No bad after effects. I walked a lot in the hospital. I walk a lot now, about 10-12 blocks daily, one hour to an hour and a half. I eat tiny amounts of food, but I am satisfied. Tiny = one poached egg; another meal may be: 2-3 oz of grilled chicken through the food processor. Tiny, Get it? Anyway my folks have been here to help, and it's been great. As far as Ivonne , I called her one morning after my major incision began spewing a foul smelling yellow " gook. " (disgusting)As it turned out it was " destabilized fat, " from the incision destabilized by the laparascopic tools (this continues to ooze, but doc says it's OK), no infection, normal. Ivonne tracked down Dr. Quinn on Good Friday, AND she called me twice to make sure I had spoken to the doctor and that all was going well, even as late as 9pm. She has always been helpful to me. (in the past I have found the office impossible to contact, and I empathize with those problems people face, this was one in my favor). So, I am VERY GRATEFUL for this recovery and wish everyone the same good things. Yours, LennyB __________________________________________________
