My hospital bill at Wood County Hospital was only $14,000. At the time it

did seem reasonable to me. This doesn't include the surgeon fees,

asst.surgeon fees, and a couple of other docs. I didn't spend any time in

ICU though. I went straight to the surgical floor after recovery.

Hi Guys -

I'm having my switch done by Dr. Keshishian in Delano, CA on June 19 (will it ever get here?!?). I am very lucky I can pay my own way. The hospital contract is $20,500 for up to six days, inclusive of all but the surgeon's fees. Dr. K is charging $4,500. Total is $25,000. I am paying up front.

There may be a payment plan. In addition to this, because I am out of area there is the hotel and food for both of us two nights prior while I have lab work (included in the hospital fee), for my DH while I am in the hospital, and for both of us until I am ten days post op and have my staples out. The hotel (ok - not great) is $45 per night (a special deal that Dr. K negotiated). I understand that for locals he also has a $2,000 post-op services fee.

Right now my problem is how to stop counting the hours until June 19. Now that I've made my decision I want to do it NOW. Will one of you please make time move faster?

PS - all you lactose intolerant people - check out the Millenium Cookbook.

It's vegan (no meat, no eggs, no dairy, lots of great hi-pro lo-fat soy recipes - the chocolate tart is to die for - even non-vegans love it). Just for fun I had a totally vegan dinner party for all my carnivore friends.

They loved the food.

Hi,

I was told that Dr. K charges everyone the extra $2,000.00 fee for

aftercare/instruction/support even if they live out of state and

never get to go to the meetings. You might want to check into this

first!
