Maggie,

Hi...I got a cpap machine back in March thru Kaiser. They use Apria Healthcare. I contacted the DME thru Kaiser and they told me how much my co-pay for the machine was. Luckily I didn't have to pay anything for it.....my husband has a good plan. After I got my machine, I didn't like the mask I got so I contacted the DME and they had me call my PCP to write out an order and then Apria sent it to me right away.

Hi all,It seems I read about someone getting their cpap machine adjusted...I think mine needs one. I got it while I was covered by Blue Cross/Blue Shield so I have no idea who to contact in Kaiser...I also need a new mask, and I think someone posted a link.Thanks,Maggie__________________________________________________

You probably need to talk to your PCP first about getting plugged in

with Apria, who provides CPAPs (and breast pumps for nursing mothers) at

least in the Bay Area. You can try calling Apria direct at 408/383-4400

or 510/795-5555, but if you aren't in their system, they won't really be

willing to do anything for you, since they won't have any records of

what your settings should be. Hope that helps!

I have had mine adjusted and it was a breeze. Just take it into

Apria (call first to make sure someone is there that can do the

adjustment). You will be there for less than 5 minutes.

Call your PCP and request a new sleep study. They're done through the

pulmonery therapy dept at Kaiser. They give you a take-home gismo

that you strap on and plug into a hand-held computer. The next

morning, you turn it in, they download the data, and they can tell

what pressure your CPAP (or BPAP) should be set at. My last sleep

study showed apnia only when I slept on my back, and the pressure was

taken down to " 5. " The next step will be getting rid of it all

together!

Thanks Eleanor---

This is going to be complicated... the doctor that prescribed the

cpap isn't in Kaiser and my machine came from Advanced Respiratory.

Maybe I should just call them.......

I may call Apria for the mask, maybe that 's all I need.

Thanks,

Maggie

Thanks Timmy, sounds like good advice but I think I should wait for

the new sleep study after my surgery....3 weeks from today.
