Guest guest
Hi Kay, This is cool thank you for posting! Im still learing What is carafate? Thank You....... Caryl Hi Miriam,COngrats on your being on the "other side"!! Sorry to hear you had an extented stay in the hospital. Hope you feel better today? Each day you will get better and feel stronger!I take my vits as follows. It works better to take the calcium before the carafate, I tried taking the multi vite first and it wasn't working. Plus the iron and calcium complete for abosorbtion so it is best to seperate by 2 hours. The b-12 can be taken at any time with food, without, or in combination with other vites or calcium. :-) The carafate also has drug interacations so there has to be a two hour window when taking the iron or vits. 6am- calcium7am carafate8am breakfast10am mulit vit12 cafarte1 lunch2:30 calcium5 carafate6 dinner7 mulit vite and iron9 calcium10 carafatebed. When I spoke with Beth at Richmond she was impressed that I was able to keep the vits all spread out pretty evenly. You will find you get more energy by spreading them out as well. How are you feeling today? give us an update! Are you walking? How is the gas?Take care,Kay> Hello > I have a question?> Can i get some schedules on how some of you take your > daily vitamins.> I am finding a hard time trying to make mine work.> > Thanks > Miriam > > > __________________________________________________>
Guest guest
Hi Caryl, Carafate is the liquidy/chalky stuff they give you to drink post-op. It coats your new pouch and keeps it feeling good. Usually you take that for about 2 weeks post op. Today is my last day to take it. Yay! It tasted pretty good at the beginning, but now I can hardly swallow the stuff. The nutritionalist said that will happen when you don't need to take it any more. If you have any other questions on your journey, feel free to ask! Welcome to the group! Guest guest
Wow Kay, I hear you and know exactly what you are saying. How are your Vit. coming I notice a difference when I dont take them. I drink water all the time as I dont drink anything else except 2 cups of coffee in the morning. You sound like you are coping wonderfully. I dont have a surgery date yet. I have seen the shrink have an appointment to get a mammogram on Friday and Monday I go to the Bariatric group at Kaiser Santa in San , then the following Monday I see my Regular Doctor to go over my blood test. So just going through the motions right now. Where are you located? Where did you have surgery? Did you get your Vits from Vitalady? Au you said I could ask questions..... Thank you again. Big Hugs Caryl HI Caryl,I had surgery 6/28 and have lost 20 lbs as of today. The water intake is getting easier to tolerate. At first you can only sip 1 oz every 15 mintues. Now I can actually take a small- normal size drink. :-) The major thing to remember post op is that even though you feel completely normal again after the pain goes away, you are still healing and your body still needs rest. OH the incision areas were super itchy like 4-5 days out from surgery. I have gone back to work and didn't work through the first day more than 4 hours. Yesterday I was good all day and didn't need a nap. Today I napped in the car for an hour. That is the hardest part, the lack of energy. It hits you all of a sudden too. Weird. I am expecting as I get into Stage III foods starting Sat I will have more energy? So far I haven't had any reaction to the foods I have eaten. Though I am only eating applesauce with cream of wheat for breakfast and cream of chicken soup for lunch, then dinner that soup again with sugar free pudding. Emotionally, I didn't have any depression. I was anxious one day and full of energy the next. That first shower I took really seemed to wake up everything in me and I felt like I could walk to the moon and back. It is like when you are sick with the flu and you take that shower when you feel better, but you don't know just how much better you feel until you are out of the shower? Does that make sense? When is your surgery? Do you know if you are having lap or open? It makes a difference in your recovery time, I hear.Ask away any questions, you aren't bugging me.Kay> > > Hello > > > I have a question?> > > Can i get some schedules on how some of you take your > > > daily vitamins.> > > I am finding a hard time trying to make mine work.> > > > > > Thanks > > > Miriam > > > > > > > > > __________________________________________________> > > Do You Yahoo!?> > > Tired of spam? Guest guest
Hi Caryl, The vits I got from bariatric advantage. When you go to your pre-op class once you have your surgery date, they give you the order form. I ordered them online and they arrived like 3-4 days later. I had them in plenty of time before surgery. I am able to tolerate all the vits just fine. The carafate was the thing that interacted with them, so timing was everything. Now first day with no carafate and we shall see how the vits are. :-) I live in Napa and had my surgery in Richmond. It is about a 40 minute drive to the hospital. Now that you are busy with your appointments, time is going to fly by! I was approved for surgery a good year before I decided to actually go through with it, so if you have doubts as you go along with your process, it is totally normal. Talk to you later, Kay > > > > Hello > > > > I have a question? > > > > Can i get some schedules on how some of you take your > > > > daily vitamins. > > > > I am finding a hard time trying to make mine work. > > > > > > > > Thanks > > > > Miriam > > > > > > > > > > > > __________________________________________________ > > > > Do You Yahoo!? > > > > Tired of spam? Guest guest
You can get the Bariatric Advantage Vits at some of the Kaiser Hospital pharmacy's so check that out too so you don't have to always order them. The best pharmacy to check if they have them is the pharmacy that you have your surg at they usually will carry them. Rosespecialkmix2000 wrote: Hi Caryl,The vits I got from bariatric advantage.
