Guest guest
Hi Pam, When the Richmond program started in early 2003, they did not do lap, just open, and that may be the source of your doc's info. However, they later started doing lap. I'm not sure when, but I think it was probably when Dr. Baggs came on board, or maybe soon after. At this point I know quite a few folks who had lap there. psutherland@... wrote: > I noticed on your signature block that you had LAP RNY....I was under > the impression that Kaiser Richmond did not do Lap only open RNY....Am > I wrong? Guest guest
Oh sure, all the Kaisers, in this area, do lap. When I first started looking into this, back around April of '04, I was told that they didn't like to do lap because it took more time. By the time I got around to having surgery, the following April, they were doing it and gave me a lap. Guest guest
I think Fremont was the same way, I remember Doctor Dutta mentioning, at my orientation in July of '04, that they just mostly did opens. Then they started doing laps, so I think that all the Kaisers began to see the wisdom of doing them that way. Now the only time they do open, I think, is when the laparoscopic can't be done due too much abdominal scarring, or for some other reason.
