Guest guest
OK, so you can eat most meats just fine. What do you mean by " natural applesauce " ? Strawberries -- cooked or raw? Butternut squash -- you mentioned cooked in chunks, and pureed. You know chunks didn't work, and you're not sure about pureed. In what form, and how much almond flour did you try? Was it blanched almond flour? What are the " few other things " ? — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Guest guest
I've been stuck with the same foods for a while now, and everytime I try to add something new, it doesn't seem to work. I'm symptom-free for the most part (mild left lower abdominal tightness/pinching feeling comes and goes) until I add a new food and then I get the abdominal pain all over again. I eat everything on the intro, and I've added green beans, pineapple juice, natural applesauce, fish, pork tenderloin, turkey, etc. But I seem to have problems with veggies and fruit. I've tried adding strawberries, butternut squash (chopped into pieces and cooked...and after that didn't work, I did try it pureed...which I'm not 100% certain if it caused any issues), almond flour, and a few other things but it seems they don't agree with me. Are there any foods that are easy to digest and could possibly be handled by a person with a sensitive gut (I know we all have that issue, but I seem to be overly sensitive or something)? For some reason I can handle meats really well (like I mentioned above). I have been on the same foods for almost a year now. I can't seem to add any fruits or veggies. Maybe I'm doing it the wrong way, but I just feel slightly stuck. Any tips or ideas? Guest guest
Ok, so the strawberries were put in a blender and strained (as best I could...those little seeds can get through real easily though). It was during the winter so strawberries weren't really available, so I bought frozen ones. I didn't cook them b/c I don't know how to cook strawberries and have it taste ok. The almond flour is unblanched (has the skins on them...which I know is a problem in some...and probably me, but it's the only type available from Trader Joe's). Natural applesauce is from Motts...and Walmart. They both don't seem to bother me. I'm not sure if the pureed butternut worked fine for me b/c I had some random abdominal pain during that time (so wasn't 100% symptom free). I also tried zucchini cooked in olive oil, but the same situation happened as with the pureed butternut. If I had to make a list of all the foods I eat this would be it (and nothing has illegal preservatives, etc in them): MEATS: Chicken, fish, shrimp, turkey, pork, eggs FRUITS: Wal-Mart Natural Applesauce, pear sauce (homemade...but I haven't made it in a while due to time constraint), Dole's 100% pineapple juice, 's 100% Tomato Juice, Welch's 100% White Grape Juice, bananas. VEGGIES: Green beans, carrots both well cooked DAIRY: SCD Yogurt OTHER STUFF: Then there's the Wal-mart/Food Lion salted butter (b/c unsalted has " natural flavoring " ), italian seasoning (from McCormick...which I verified has no added ingredients), and Trader Joe's sea salt. I go make Gelatin with Knox gelatin, pineapple juice, and a little honey (but I can't eat too much honey. It seems to upset me if I eat a bunch of honey). That's all I've been eating. Recently, I have been eating small amounts of Trader Joe's Almond butter (just has almonds in it), and it doesn't seem to bother me (but I am waiting on that one). All those things seem to be ok, although I'm not 100% all the time, I do have random days that I feel better than others. And night time seems to be when I feel the most discomfort if I'm going to feel any at all. I suppose the issue is adding food in, and getting more of a variety so as to avoid malnutrition. While that list might seem like a lot, it's all-inclusive and a year of just eating that can get slightly boring, not to mention the possible malnourishment that comes with no variety. Maybe I've been doing the adding of foods all wrong, but BTVC doesn't go in to too much detail on when to add every little thing. I have been roughly following the pecanbread stages. I was hoping for some ideas on easy to digest foods, and recipes to make them seem as tasty as possible. Thanks, Chris > > > > > OK, so you can eat most meats just fine. > > What do you mean by " natural applesauce " ? > > Strawberries -- cooked or raw? > > Butternut squash -- you mentioned cooked in > chunks, and pureed. Guest guest
Raw fruits can be a problem, pureed or not. What fruits besides the strawberries have you tried? Do you dilute your fruit juices? Unblanched almond flour can be a problem -- I don't use the TJ's stuff myself. Blanched can be ordered from Lucy's kitchen shoppe, or Honeyville. Some people have trouble with veggies cooked in oil or butter (I didn't), but you might want to revisit the zucchini, peeled, and steamed, with a little butter or olive oil drizzled over it. The natural applesauce is not legal. I'd ditch it, even if you think it isn't a problem, and make your own. Is the TJ's almond butter blanched? I doubt it. I don't trust McCormick's spice mixtures. And no commercial spice mixtures are legal -- if you really like Italian seasoning, I have a recipe to mix, or just use garlic, oregano and thyme. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

> > > > > > > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Your E-mail and More On-the-Go. Guest guest
Half and half is NOT legal unless you make 24 hour yogurt with it.
