Guest guest Posted April 28, 2001 Report Share Posted April 28, 2001 Joe, I found out ,too late last time, that there has been a rule that ins co know, that there was another route after the appeal called an External Review. The appeal process us called the Internal Review As of May 2000 the insurance companies HAVE to tell you about this service. Every State has a Department of Insurance. I know that if Walter is not able to do anything with my ins co and we exhaust all of the appeals, It will go to the Ohio Department of Insurance. The ins co is required by law to tell me about this external review now. Before they were not required. It was available but they didn't have to tell us. The Ohio Department of Ins is not a part of the ins co, so there should not be any bias. Sue, check into the state's department of insurance. They will know what to do now.
