Guest guest
Thanks for explaining that to me. I am also practically done with the pre-pre- op as of this fri upon completion of my endoscopy. I dont understand. At Mt. Sinai, at least with me, I had the surgeon consult then the psych consult, nutrition consult, blood work, and endoscopy. Then Mt. Sinai sent in my stuff to insurance. I'm not sure what consult you are trying to get approved prior to. Sorry...I need further explaining :~) Jill K in NY __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I want to know if Prior to my surgical consult, if I should contact my Ins co. to get an approval for the consult. I've already seen my pcp, got a referral to ins.co. as well as a referral for the endoscopy . The endoscopy is being done for two reasons. 1. I have to have my esophogus dilated so that food, solid food can pass. and 2. while they're in there, they will check for the H-plor, bacteria causing ulsers. By being part of this group, I was able to find out that I could have certain tests done prior to consult. even psych. I have my thyroid results back also. These as you said are the ones that the Dr. needs in order to contact the Ins.co. But, I also vaguely recall someone stating that they were approved prior to surg, consult. I was just wondering should I attempt tp contact the Ins. co myself to obtain an approval so that when I go for consult, I would be on point so as to hopefully get a surgical date. What do you think? Guest guest
Gosh Vanilla, I dont know. I didnt do any of my pre-op until after the surgery consult. I didnt think I could. Oh well... Well here is my opinion: I think you should leave it to Mt. Sinai to deal with approval. That is what Daryl does. He knows how to fill out forms and do all that stuff. That's what I think. Good Luck!
