My 14 year old son went to his first homecoming event last night. It was a dinner cruise and I wasn't about to trust anything that was going to be served. I roasted a chicken, cooked some green beans, carrots and broccoli, made souffle bread and almond butter bars, and opened a can of pears and made up a dinner in a foil pie plate and plastic container. I had contacted the vice principal, who contacted the company running the ship and was told that this would be okay. I was hoping that someone would be able to warm up his plate for him.

A friend who works at the school took charge of his bag of food, so he wouldn't have to carry it around. (That was so nice of her!) The chef let her reheat it in a convection oven and then he arranged it on a nice plate and had it sent out to my son. Everyone commented on how good his food looked and he was happy to get to eat off a real plate and not foil! He didn't feel weird at all and no one made a big deal out of it. I was so happy that it went well!

It's so nice when people are willing to help out, even just a little bit to make this whole diet easier to deal with!
