I have never heard of such treatment poor thing. She is on my list for a quick recovery. I will definetly keep her in my prayers. I just get so angered when I see people not doing their JOBS like the doc's...Thanks for the update. Brigid

Guest guest
You should have heard of such treatment. Right before went in I posted of my sister's horror story with OSHU and Dr. Deveny. After her surgery, I don't think she ever saw her Dr. again. When I was there the day after her surgery I found the nursing care deplorable, and they so much as lied to her about calling specialists about her pain. I just think anyone with a surgery date already set with Deveny doesn't want to hear about problems, they just want the surgery done. I'm really glad is doing okay, but I wonder if her story would stop anyone from doing their surgery with Deveny. Guest guest
He took over Dr. Welker's patients after he left. It's Oregon Health Sciences University. He has even stated he doesn't " believe " in weight loss surgery, so I don't know why anyone would want him to do their surgery. Guest guest
Caroline: It is OHSU, not OSHU, an easy transposition to make. It stands for Oregon Health Sciences University. Dr. Deveny is not listed on the DS website though perhaps he should be. He took over Dr. Welker's practice when Dr. Welker left. He is not interested in doing weight loss surgery long term but OHSU felt a need to accomodate those who had been promised surgery and Dr. Deveny is certainly technically competent to do so. He had assisted Dr. Welker on a number of DS surgeries and Dr. Welker assisted him on several. Joy's for example. I don't expect him to be doing the DS in two years. Regards. I don't expect him to be doing the DS in two years though I hasten to say that he has never said that to me so I could be wrong. OHSU is a fine and very large teaching hospital. I feel that their approach is basically flawed, however. Surgeons are treated like Gods and patients and their families (and guardians) are treated like necessary impediments to the surgeons making the decisions they were trained to make. I think this is legally questionable and operatively mistaken. But that is my opinion and if I correctly recall, they haven't asked for that lately. Regards.
