Jill: I was eating like this immediately post-op, too. I wouldn't

worry too much about speed unless you have stomach pains/feel sick or

want to vomit afterwards. I never really paid attention to my eating

speed, although I did try to pace myself since I'd heard that people

can easily overload without realizing it until the deed is done! LOL

I didn't really chew for a tremendously long time, either. Most times

I could eat an entire egg or 4 oz cottage cheese with fruit, etc. I

was amazed at the amount I could eat, especially with protein, and

easily made the 70 gms/day goal immediately post-op. :) I only

experienced gas with broccoli, tuna and cucumbers. Sometimes I just

stopped if I felt full or had some cramps. I almost always burped and

I think this is what saved me from feeling nauseous or having severe

gas/cramping after eating.

I think it's great that you're able to get your protein in -- count

your blessings. :) I felt like quite a mutant because I was eating

pretty effortlessly and without problem. I would just continue to

take it slow when introducing new foods --- ensuring that you don't

have any severe negative reactions to them. I also was able to drink

with meals (albeit only a little bit at first) and I heard quite a few

people say this was not something they could do right away. I

personally haven't felt less full or anything and was so relieved

because I love to drink with meals.

Hi Jill,

I was able to eat a whole scrambled egg by about 2 weeks. And I

could eat 2, if they were fried. That made me nervous. I'm almost

10 weeks post-op & 2 eggs are still my limit. I could eat more than

I thought I was supposed to pretty quickly, but so far I'm doing good

& haven't gone much past that amount. It depends on what I eat

though. I can eat more of some things than others. About a month

post-op I was eating a whole container of yogurt at one sitting &

that worried me too, but it's smooth & goes down quickly. Just stop

if you feel any twinge of pain. That's how I had to learn. I would

stop at the first twinge. About a month ago I started getting a

really sharp pain (like a gas pain), in my side, under my ribs, if I

took even the smallest sip of anything while eating. It lasted 2 or

3 weeks & has finally gone away, thankfully! I try not to drink too

much while eating, but I usually need a sip to help wash it down.

Good luck to you.
