Here's my list of things to do with an Excalibur Dehydrator. I have TWO

2900s (think the current comparative model is the 3900 -- it has a 26

hour timer on it.)

The question is more, what CAN'T you do with them!

I make yogurt.

I dry apple and pineapple and berries.

I dry zucchinis for substitute pasta.

I dry other veggies for all sorts of things.

I make snacking meat sticks.

I dry crackers.

I dry cheese crisps.

I defrost meat.

Oh, and I've been known to use them to dry my swim weights or a

sweater... but I don't think the manufacturer really intended them to be

used for that.

I bought the second one after I realized the first one was always full

and I didn't have any time to make yogurt....

Do you have any recipes for

those great suggestions? Is there anywhere I can get them?

I'm always intimidated by an appliance till I figure out how to use

it. Do you soak the veggies in something first? I'm really

interested in the meat recipes too. I just keep looking at the huge

box and knowing I can do alot with it but scared to

start!

Well, I can understand that. I never had a food processor until one

showed up on my doorstep just in time for my birthday, and the darn thing

has been driving me absolutely crazy! I'm sure it'll be useful once I get

the hang of it, because there are some things it does very well. (It's

said that it takes sixty hours of repetition to fully master a new

technique.) Here's to mastery!

I'll see about digging out some of my recipes.

For the veggies and the fruits... I just peel them and slice them and lay

them out on the trays and dry. You'll read loads of stuff about soaking

them in this, that or th' other thing. I've never bothered: I know my

apple slices will turn up cream-colored instead of pristine and white,

and I don't care.

<grin> I hope you've at least taken it out of the shipping box and

set it up!
