Guest guest
Congrats on all the approvals, weight losses, successful pre & post-op appointments! Now with that said.... I get the feeling the Richmond Kaiser is a lot faster than South SF. I was told that all the surgeons were going to be out on vacation in July only to find out that it's not really the case. Dr. Umbach is here in July. Anyway just a thought. I'd also love to hear about experiences folks have had with Dr. Umbach. I'm very nerveous about my Aug. 9th appointment with him. I wonder if it's realistic to lose all my 10lbs by then. I have no idea why I'm struggling...I'm just obsessed with the freakin' 10 lbs. I'm glad it's just 10lbs rather than 20 or 30...I never thought I'd stress over 10 little lbs.
Guest guest
Hi I think the surgery schedule at ssf might be altered due to different doctors going on vacations at different times, when i had my surgery in feb, i was offered a dec date in nov.............anyways dr umbach assisted in my surgery and dr gorrin was my primary surgeon, i know i had a hard time getting a follow up appt with him this month, i think because they work so closely together that if one is gone it is one less surgeon to help out, so their case load is lower at that time, at least i am guessing that. My surgery sister twin Shonda had surgery right after mine and her my dr assisted in her surgery, she had no problems what so ever with dr umbach, except she wanted to stay an extra day and he would not let her, and i wanted to go home the next day and dr gorrin would not let me go home..............funny how that all works out. I think you will get the ten pounds off if you work at it and keep it in your mind it is something you need to do................... i was always in fear of once loseing what i needed to lose and then bumping my surgery into feb, i had two more months of of not gaining anything which for me was scarey but i did ok. infact everyone was complementing me on how well i did at losing which made me feel good and guilt ridden at the same time. good luck colleen ps dr umbach is handsome a blondie ( usually i go for the darker hair and skin LOL)"Azeeeeeeeeeeen! (the excitement is optional)" wrote: Congrats on all the approvals, weight losses, successful pre & post-op appointments! Guest guest
Hi Azen (?) I had lap surgery on May 25 and Dr. Umbach was my surgeon. For my experience, I would describe him as laid back and friendly, but I was an uncomplicated candidate. During my final presurgery appt., he told me it would probably be an overnight stay. The day after surgery, Dr. Gorrin was doing the rounds for Dr. Umbach and I did have to do a bit of pleading & reassuring that I was fine to get discharged by the afternoon. The two Dr.s are different in approach although both were very nice with me. I had five small incisions, one with one staple and four with two staples, and I have recovered well. I exercised regularly before surgery and Dr. Umbach released me to do aquacise & light exercise (no crunches or 20lb lifting) at my two week follow-up appt when he removed the staples. I hope to get the go ahead this Tuesday when I see him next to start working on my tummy, because it really needs some help. Keep working towards your goal - You can make it! Use your excitement to stay focused and don't let the nerves take over. Take advantage of the beautiful weather and go for a walk when the snacking urge hits you. I know that getting away from the refrigerator during times of temptation really helped me. All the staff in SSF is very positive and encouraging - I really felt they wanted me to succeed. Good luck!
