Guest guest
Hi Anita, I tried the atkins protein bars and they were yucky. MedRX is even worse and tastes like carboard! But I suggest you give Luna bars a try...... in the flavors of S'mores and Nutz about chocolate.....you will love them, I promise! I just bought myself 2 boxes....one of each and have one every morning now. Judie
Guest guest
> I tried the atkins protein bars and they were yucky. Tell me about it. I tasted one just a few weeks after surgery, and on the basis of that sample, I bought two boxes. Unfortunately, I bought the WRONG flavors! Anybody wanna buy two boxes (minus one bar each) of Atkins bars at a nice discount? The flavors are Chocolate/Coconut/Medicine and Chocolate/Macadamia/Medicine. >MedRX is even worse and tastes like carboard! I managed to choke down most of a box of those the first couple weeks post-op, when I was desparate for anything with protein. (At 32 grams per bar, they do have a LOT of protein.) > But I suggest you give Luna bars a try...... I looked at those on the GNC site. Problem is, they really aren't PROTEIN bars. They are just listed under " Bars and Snacks " (under Nutrition and Wellness). They have: 4.5 grams of fat (no worry, since we can't absorb it); 24 grams carbohydrate, of which 12 grams are SUGARS, (can you say " Gas, here I come? " 10 grams protein If you just want something convenient, I suppose they are fine, but if you are looking to supplement your protein, you'll have to eat a bunch of them. If you have a wrapper handy, could you post the number of grams of Carbohydrate, Fat, and Protein? Thanks, Tom

I have been trying bars and haven't found one that I particularly like? To add to that, I haven't found a protein powder I like either. My surgery is June 26 and I would like to find a powder (since that is what I will have to had right after surgery) and a bar (for after the first few weeks).
