JoEllen,

It won't be the most pleasant thing, but you can rinse your sinuses out with

salt water using a small vessel that looks like 'genie' lamp to keep them open

and clear. Also you can alternate hot and cold compresses over your

face/affected sinuses (i.e. forehead or eyes/nose), but this only brings

temporary relief of congestion. There are eye drops that contain antihistamines

that will bring relief to your eyes and since your eyes drain partially through

the sinuses, will help to a degree there as well. I had a friend have an

allergic reaction to spelt flour once (I was baking and she was standing near to

me and the flour particles floating in the air from pouring/mixing, caused a

reaction!). I had her use the visine allergy eye drops and it helped her eyes

and her throat almost instantly -- we were both amazed. Other than that, try

at your local health food store for a natural remedy. It might contain

illegals, but if you are really suffering, Elaine says you need to balance the

benefits and that if it is necessary to take medicine, do so even if it has some

illegals in it.

with seasonal allergies/post-nasal drip? I have never had allergies before but

seemed to have developed some type of allergy causing post-nasal drip having to

constantly clear my throat. I am thinking about going to an allergist but they

will probably prescribe meds that are not SCD legal. Any thoughts or

suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Stinging nettle. (Or just " nettle " as it tends to be called now.) Comes in

capsule form. For many people -- I'm one -- it is a very useful natural

antihistamine with no side effects. Just find one without illegal

additives. There are many out there. I use it regularly, as needed. It may

take as much as a week to build up in your system, and then you'll feel

the effects. I guess there are some people who aren't helped by it, but

they would be people who are generaly unresponsive to herbs, or who need

high doees of medicines in order for them to be effective.

I've used quercetin and C or quercetin and bromelain. It can be tricky

finding them without additives.

Incorporating local honey into your diet can help with seasonal allergies.

Worked for me anyway....thank goodness because I'm not exactly sure what I would

do otherwise :)
