It is so exciting to hear the surgery dates being posted. What a

wonderful supportive group of people here, and isn't it strange how a

common issue can bring such a variety of types together. I guess

because I have gone to the internet as a supportive forum for many

health issues recently, it's what I have come to expect. The internet

amazes me!!!! I have vacationed in Hawaii with friends met on a

diabetic support list.

I only wish the diabetic lists were more supportive of this decision I

have made. Seems like everyone has the " I know a guy who " and then

detail some terrible result of the surgery. I am really tired of " easy

way out " " get some willpower " and notes of that type coming to me. I

have tried to brush them off lightly I have sent URL's with stories,

with diagrams, with percentages of weight loss kept off. I have bared

my dieting soul only to be treated like I am not quite doing something

right...if I would follow this diet ot that diet I would be much better.

Well-of course we know this is no piece of cake..in fact that is how we

got here .

I subscribe read only to the DS problem list and am also horrified

about what I read there. Thru it all, it is the very rare person who

would not do it all over again. That gives me the strength to carry

forth with this big decision. That and my wonderful supportive husband,

the beautiful and witty Russ. My kids are coming around, my sister

hopes for the best..she sees herself in 12 years, and my brother hopes

that I won't tell his wife about it. We are all big people, and at 5'9 "

I am the shortest of them all, except for one niece who got a short gene

the grown family members all top 6' and most top 225+.

AAack - enough - I just wanted to tell everyone who got a date

congratulations and take care of yourselves. Waiting to hear the results!

elle - pre op in PDX - waiting for the sleep study

BMI 37, 255#, 5'9 " , 58 YO, hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes and

chronic pain
