Okay in response for me, I didn't gain my weight from eating

compulsively it was from choosing the wrong foods with occasional

compulsive eating. I would eat out high fat, and high calorie foods

eat until I was full and that was pretty much it. I didn't eat

massive amounts of food I just ate foods that were massively high in

fat and colories. I appreciate what it is to compulsively eat and

don't by any means deny that I did compulsively over eat, but this is

by no means a product of that.

So, now that I have been basically eating nothing for about four

months some days I would eat maybe 1/2 cup of food all day and maybe

tomato soup(was about the only thing I could eat for a LONG time).I

have become EXTREMELY weak. To the point I wasn't eating because it

took to much energy, preparing, the actual eating, and then the

diarhea. So, I have had an extremely hard time eating period.

I did find out that my blood work came back I am mildly anemic

which I kinda thought could be happening. I also have been keeping a

food log and doing my eat-wait-eat not because I wanted to because I

have to. I have been barely functioning for the past 5 months. I do

appreciate that this could in turn compromise maximum weight loss,

but again for me I had to get some food in me to live! I told you

guys about my horrible time with diarhea I think that has played a

big role in my weakness also. I also had no appetite and still

don't,but at least now I can finally eat. So, I do appreciate the

response regarding " eatng around the surgery " , but it had to come to

that for me at least until I get better. That was the whole point of

this surgery so I could live again, get out and have energy, and be

active. For me the exact opposite has happened. I can barely wash my

hair and have black outs through out the day when I stand. So, I

have been as happy as a lark that I have been eating for about one

week straight and actually started to feel a little more energy

coming on.

That was the whole point of me asking others how much they eat so I

can make sure I am eating at LEAST the same amount as others. I have

to admit I was looking at some early post-ops wishing it was me! I

still have to eat-wait-eat just to get in what I do and even then

it's not that much. I guess it's all relative. I only started to

really drink my protein shakes last week. I know that is really bad,

but I just couldn't stomach them. For whatever reason I am able to

get them down now. I guess I'm just a slow healer.

In return as soon as I get better I will take your advice because

let me tell you after all this shit(no pun intended) that I have been

through I better get to my GOAL!! THat is why I did this. My goal:

HEALTHY,HAPPY, ACTIVE, CONFIDENT and ENERGIZED and I ain't there yet.

I'll tell you that.

Thanks for all your help!

Sincerely,

Brigid

Brigid:

I completely understand that you don't relate to my reply. But please understand that we are different. I have a compulsive eating problem and what was said certainly does apply to me. I completely understand that it does NOT apply to you and that's great. I'm glad you don't have the same problem I do. I understand your problem and the solution for you is to do just what I must avoid.

So far I have been losing weight just fine. But I can see the handwriting on the wall that if I don't clean up my act while I'm in my best weight losing window my long term success is in danger.

Dear Brigid:

You are eating the same way I ate from the start what with the tomato soup only to trying to get a bite of something else in as I went along, I too was weak and couldn't stand for more than a few minutes, I had a shower chair so I could shower that worked great.

I still eat, (2 years later) a little wait and then eat some more off my plate and most times it takes me from an hour to two to finish a meal and when I am at home I have to heat it up in the microwave.

I did explain to Dr. A about how I mostly eat and he looked at me and said, "Keep doing whatever you are doing because it sure is working!" and he is right, my body eats what and when it wants and I have lost 224 pounds and I stay between 160-165 and I think that I have done fine.

You let me know if you want to actually talk and I will send you my phone number and stop worrying you are doing great.

Huggles,

Tiger
