G'day

I am hoping that someone with a better grasp of medical procedures can help me out.

I was finally ready to make an appointment with the surgeon when I contacted a former patient for a reference on the surgeon and the operation's success for them.

This former patient says that the Duodenal switch and the Biliopancreatic Diversion are two different operations. I have consulted my notes I have collected from various sources and the accompanying diagrams and they look very similar to me.

Would there be someone with a better grasp of medical procedures who can explain the differences to me and any other relevant information that I might need or a least questions that maybe I should ask?

from Australia
