For a counter perspective on the whole GMO thing from a farmer

see this:

-agri-intellectuals

It might not change any opinions, but it is interesting to see the

other side

laid out with intelligent argumentations by a farmer.

This was an interesting read. " Herbicides cut the need for tillage, which decreases soil erosion by millions of tons " .  Maybe, but those toxins are still released into the ground water.

However, the author makes the best point of all that without artificially manufactured nitrogen fertilizer, farming practices would only support 4 billion people. That's the real problem.

It's a vicious circle, folks.

Given that the article is presented on the American Enterprise Institute website makes it instantly suspect to me. Call me cynical, which I am when it comes to Agri-Business. Agri-Business does not have your health in mind.CarolHmm, just curious. Did you read the article? Or did you let thewebsite make up your mind for you?The guy writing it is a farmer with a lifetime of experience behind him - more than that really, as he also has theaccumulated experience of several generations of hisfamily who have farmed the same property for years. He seemed completely straightforward to me. Not like a duplicitous agent of **agri-business**.Obviously it is from his side of things. But he's got aninformed POV. And personally I like to read things on various sides of an issue. Mara

The farmer’s point of view is valid. What I object to is

the title of the article. It seems to be a smear on the wildly popular book

The Omnivore’s Delight by Pollan. Just sayin’.
