Guest guest
White spots can be viral. Strep can cause white pus, but not usually distinct white spots. Sometimes Prednisone can predispose people to thrush which is Candida- but that also usually causes white areas on the tongue- and can also give you a sore tongue and throat. The throat swab test will tell you if it is strep, and if not- no antibiotics for you!! Here's hoping... and hope you feel better. Guest guest
So is extra strength tylenol not allowed? If not, can you let me know why? I've had a bad virus recently myself and took extra strength (rapid release) tylenol several times a few days ago. Thanks, Jill > > > > Over the past few days, I've had a headache and a sore throat when I > > woke up in the morning. I had things royally messed up for me in 2008 because of the " inactive " ingredients in my pain meds after my cancer surgery. Guest guest
Yipes! I took a closer look at the label -- had mistakenly thought that all tylenol was okay. What's the best way to take plain acetaminophen? Have the pharmacist prepare it in a special " compound? " Or is there a plain commercial brand available over the counter, minus the inactive ingredients? Thanks, Jill > >So is extra strength tylenol not allowed? If > >not, can you let me know why? Guest guest
Hey Jill.. You can get it at a compounding pharmacy and ask for it to be SCD compliant. Work with a pharmacy that is aware of SCD restrictions. I use Hopewell Pharmacy in NJ. But there are many. I have not found Tylenol w/o inactive ingredients OTC (I don't take Tylenol myself as it makes me sick and so does Ibprofin and aspirin) Jodi
Guest guest
Thanks, Jodi. Since tylenol was listed as " legal, " I never thought to check the ingredients! What a shock! I found only one local pharmacy that compounds. Unfortunately, they don't have acetaminophen as a base stock. They did say that they'd compound a cough suppressant for me, which is essentially robitussin minus the sugar and starches. Ah, the worries and literal headaches we SCDers have to go through to stay compliant! Jill > > Hey Jill.. > > You can get it at a compounding pharmacy and ask for it to be SCD compliant. Strep is nothing to play with. It can attack your heart if gone untreated. It can morph into scarlet fever. I have an Uncle who had to undergo a heart valve surgery due to scarlet fever from strep. He has not ever gotten back to his old self. It is just not a good option instead of taking antibiotics. You know that once the round of antibiotics are over and your strep (if you have strep) is over, you can start the SCD diet at intro and proceed. >
