Guest guest
Yipes! I took a closer look at the label -- had mistakenly thought that all tylenol was okay. What's the best way to take plain acetaminophen? Have the pharmacist prepare it in a special " compound? " Or is there a plain commercial brand available over the counter, minus the inactive ingredients? Thanks, Jill > >So is extra strength tylenol not allowed? If > >not, can you let me know why? Guest guest
This topic brings up for me the idea of having a plan of action should the swine flu hit as heavy as predicted (or any other flu for that matter). Sounds like this particular strain likes to attack people with compromised immune systems. I know that this is more of a challenge when taking obviously an immune suppressor or prednisone, but if not on any of these types of medications it would seem that since my immune system is essentially attacking my colon that it is in overdrive. when others get the flu, I don't seem to - could my immune system hypervigilance be a result of this? If the flu does hit this area, is anyone debating how they will manage with their condition? Anyone getting flu shots? What meds do people have on hand for such things? I work part time in a restaurant - should I think twice about continuing employment in such an environment with ulcerative colitis should an outbreak occur? Just looking to be prepared as best I can - any suggestions would be helpful aiazeen UC 7 yrs Asacol 400 mg/3 x day (FINALLY NO PREDNISONE SINCE 7/16/09 yeah!) 1 yr SCD > > Over the past few days, I've had a headache and a sore throat when I > woke up in the morning. Guest guest
My 9/10 yr old daughter never took an meds her 13 months on SCD. When she got sick or had a headache I made her ginger tea. I sliced some ginger root and microwaved it for a couple minutes in a cup of water. Then added honey and sometimes lemon. She loved it and it got us through!! She only missed 1 day of school on SCD. She missed 6 weeks before we started. Sometimes she drank ginger tea just for a treat. I still drink ginger root in my green tea all day long with lemon (no honey too many calories for me). It's a great natural anti- inflammatory. It's actually good for your stomach if you leave the skin on. I usually peel most of it off however. It's been amazing for my back to drink this instead of coffee and tastes great!! Donna O'Connor Subject: Re: Headaches and Sore throatTo: BTVC-SCD Date: Thursday, August 13, 2009, 7:45 PM Thanks, Jodi. Since tylenol was listed as "legal," I never thought to check the ingredients! What a shock! I found only one local pharmacy that compounds. Unfortunately, they don't have acetaminophen as a base stock. They did say that they'd compound a cough suppressant for me, which is essentially robitussin minus the sugar and starches.Ah, the worries and literal headaches we SCDers have to go through to stay compliant!Jill>> Hey Jill..> > You can get it at a compounding pharmacy and ask for it to be SCD compliant.
