Do you, Alyssa, or does anybody else know the scientific theory behind it, and how and why it works? (It obviously does work; I might have been skeptical about that at one time.) For acupuncture, there are a number of good books. Intriguingly, one of the best on Chinese medicine is called 4 Paws, 5 Directions, which is about employing acupuncture and so forth on our furred children. My Dachshund Duo gets a maintenance treatment every eight weeks. A friend of mine has been getting her 21 year old cat acupuncture after I told her what it had done for Shadow and Sunny. She says that Bebe acts as though she's no more than 15. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Can't say it's exactly scientific, but I know one area of thought on this is similar to the thinking on feng shui. Everything is said to have chi, ki, energy, whatever you want to call is, and in feng shui you try to manipulate the energy of your surroundings to help improve your life. In muscle testing, from what I've read and talked to my Dr. about, the same concept applies. Every food we eat has energy, and each of our bodies have 'energy fields,' I guess based on our meridians which are targeted during acupuncture. When you bring the food into your energy field (holding it) during the muscle test and it's compatible with your body's energy field, you will get a strong response, and if it isn't compatible, your energy field will be weakened, twisted confused, etc.. and you will get a weak response. This is also why results can change, because I know right now my body's energy is not exactly where it should be because I'm not 100% healthy. I think a lot of foods will test differently as my colon heals. I'm sure there are other schools of thought on this, but this is the only one that I've found and understood so far. Guest guest
Since you still have D, it might not be a good idea to eat raw fruits and veggies. In BTVC, Elaine said, " Because fruits and raw vegetables have qualities which tend to make them laxative, they must be used with care when diarrhea is still active. Although all fruits, all raw vegetables, and as much honey as desired may be used when the diarrhea has cleared, it is best to eliminate them until that time. When fruits are introduced, after a week or two, they should be ripe, peeled, and cooked. Raw fruits should not be introduced until diarrhea is under control. Raw vegetables such as salad greens, carrots and celery sticks, cucumbers, and onions also should not be introduced until diarrhea is under control.
