Guest guest
Robynn: I totally agree with you. I love you too, , and I only want what's right for your journey. I feel so strongly about this because I struggle with it too! Robynn, the weight I'm maintaining is 165 - 169 lbs, I'm 5'8 " but it's amazing, with all the workouts I do, people often think I weigh 140 - 150. Yesterday, at the Pride Parade, I put on a shirt (matching my contingent, my church in San Francisco) and I looked positively slender. Still, I look in the mirror with a grin, a woo hoo, then I have to counter the old negative self talk that says, " You can't be that skinny... " Old bad habits die hard, but we have the tools to overcome them. I agree that 's caloric intake will be different than mine, but I have to say that when Dr. Fisher told me to start INCREASING my caloric intake (ever so slightly), I was freaked out. I had to take a leap of faith, yet again, follow Dr. Fisher's advice, and wow, the man was right! What I eat is huge compared to what I ate after a few months post-op, but it is still smaller than any of the normal-weighted friends and family around me. I still weigh and measure everything I can. I too suffer from diet mentality, so I try to warn others (and myself) about getting back in to old patterns that are not in my best interest. Guest guest
It's so helpful to hear about all of this...because I am so enmeshed in the diet mentality, myself...and I've wondered what happens when you are at the "end of the rainbow" so to speak. For me, personally...it has always been some kind of weird science to find out what works for my body. If I don't eat enough, I quit losing weight. And yet, I feel compelled to starve myself when I'm dieting. It makes no sense at all!! The more you can share on this, the better. Francisco wrote: Robynn:I totally agree with you. Guest guest
I'm with you Robynn. If I don't eat enough calories, my body will NOT lose weight. I actually have to eat more and get in lots of protein (or so that is how it use to be before surgery). I think it has to do with the PCOS...not sure though. It baffles me!
