Guest guest
It seems like a lot of people here are suffering from candida. I was curious what your symptoms were. I mean, how did you decide that that's what the problem was? What first made you think that that might be what it was?Well, first of all I've been having D for over a month, even though my diet's super limited, so that made me look into other causes, especially candida, since so many people on here seemed to have it. The other candida symptoms that were listed were nausea, headache, irritability, constipation, and brain fog. I have all those except constipation. The main clue-ins for me were the irritability and the brain fog. I had no idea why I was always in such a bad mood, and why I wanted to tell people off no matter what they said to me. And usually I'm super smart, but I haven't been able to concentrate as well and I've been feeling just dull in general, again, with no explanation (until I found out it was a candida symptom that is). Then, when I started going to my applied kineseologist, he tested me and said I had it.THEN, I got one of my many tongue sores swabbed and cultured, and IT showed yeast. So basically, if you suspect something's wrong with you other than what you're already treating with the diet, look into candida. If not, enjoy your winter squashes and bananas =) Pour Dieu, pour terre,Alyssa 15UC April 2008, diagnosed Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)No meds except for the stupid iron pill I have to take that is SO illegal

What first made you think that that > > might be what it was? > > >always suffered vaginal yeast infections after almost EACH period growing up and LIVED off sugar- but still when it was mentioned here I thought I don't have typical symptoms - thrush fuzzy tongue etc so i didn't think I did but I did the spit test on pecanbread - immediate positive then doc tested stool and off the charts crazy amounts of RARE strains - never seen before strains etc - SO... that's why I'm scd candida since april - plus starting 3rd diflucan (scd compliant) tomorrow -used it on/off and did a month or so of nystatin too - can't wait to kill these buggers and feel much better!!! PS my compounding pharmacist believes its behind most if not all GI issues - I'm thinking he's right!! and doc made me read the Yeast connection for woman - amazing book - you'd never know what yeast is responsible for!! Guest guest
Hi Stacey, For me, I was told by my naturopath that I had yeast candida and she put me on a special diet. That was about 2 years before I got onboard the SCD diet. My main symptoms were: constipation, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, bloating and gas. > > Hey everybody! > It seems like a lot of people here are suffering from candida. I was curious what your symptoms were. I mean, how did you decide that that's what the problem was? What first made you think that that might be what it was? I don't *think* I have any reason to believe I have that problem but maybe I just don't know enough about it. > Stacey >

I mean, how did you decide that that's what the problem was?"---------Hi Stacey,My first sign of candida was that my mouth (inside cheeks, gums, and sometimes teeth) was coated with a fine whitish film that I could almost "peel" off. I also had a lot of belching and gassy diarrhea (lovely, eh?) That progressed to white patches inside my mouth and on my tongue, and from there painful swallowing. I then had an endoscopy that showed yeast in my esophagus, and from there was put on Diflucan. Since that episode of esophagitis a few years ago, my doctor and I have agreed that my system is susceptible to yeast. Even when I don't have plaques in my mouth or difficulty swallowing, I look for more subtle symptoms that my gut ecology is "off". The more subtle symptoms for me are a feeling of spaciness, gas or burping, heartburn, cravings for sweets (especially around ovulation or my period), insatiable hunger, irritability, difficulty concentrating, a dull ache in my gut, diarrhea, and any noticeable increase in fatigue. One of the first things that happened when I started to treat the yeast was I broke out in a fine, itchy red rash on my chest/torso. I also felt feverish and out of sorts, like a flu but without the muscle aches. After a couple days this disappeared and since I tolerate Diflucan pretty well, I assume that the rash was die-off.
