Guest guest
Hi Holly, I looked at this steam canner and concluded that I would not use it. Call me old fashioned (ok, I am). I have canned in the past. I have successfully used a water bath canner (not recommended for everything) and a pressure canner. I’m pretty sure Ball has a website stating what foods are recommended for pressure canning. That info is out there. For a few years, when I lived in the mountains of western NC and had a big vegetable garden, I canned using a wood cook stove – talk about a hot kitchen! I'm looking at a steam canner ( http://www.amazon.com/Back-to-Basics-Steam-Canner/dp/B0000DDUCJ/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8 & coliid=I3FH0HZEY0E796 & colid=1P46EX3FPSH4V ). I've read many opinions about whether or not this is safe. I though I'd ask here to get a few more ;-). So far, I haven't come across anyone who has had a bad experience with it, just people who don't trust it. Does anyone have good/bad experiences to report?
