Join us for a special Guest Speaker Chat on Neutralizing Antibodies and MS Therapies with Brandes MS MD FAAN Dr. Brandes is currently in the private practice of Neurology in the San Valley north of Los Angeles, California. He founded the Northridge Neurological Center in 1977 and subsequently founded the Northridge MS Center in 1999. As Director of the Northridge MS Center, he has nearly 1000 active MS patients in his practice. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Brandes was involved in a variety of research projects regarding the usage of immunomodulatory drugs in MS patients with a number research projects are currently underway. Dr. Brandes received an M.S. degree in Biochemistry from UCLA in Los Angeles in 1968 and his M.D. degree from UCLA in 1971. Following his Neurology residency, Dr. Brandes was Chief Resident in Neurology, a teaching position, until he entered the private practice. He continues to teach students, neurology residents and family practice residents as Assistant Clinical Professor in Neurology at UCLA. He is certified as a Multiple Sclerosis Specialist by the Consortium of MS Centers. Over the past 15 years he has spoken to numerous audiences in the United States, Canada, Europe and Mexico about the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis. Currently he is a member of the Board of Directors and the Clinical Advisory Committee of the Southern California Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. In addition to his special interest and expertise in Multiple Sclerosis, Dr. Brandes is Director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Northridge Hospital Medical Center. He has been elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and is past- President of the Medical Staff of Northridge Hospital. He has also chaired numerous hospital medical staff committees, including the Department of Medicine, the Research Committee and the Quality Assurance Committee.
