Guest guest
Hi All, I wanted to provide some encouragement to those just starting the diet. My husdand has had CD for about 20 years. He has had an ulcer at the ileum for the better part of that time. Last October, we had moved and went to see a new GI who performed his colonoscopy. The new GI wanted to put him on remicade or humira because the ulcer was still there and that area had narrowed enought that he couldn't get a scope through. He completely threw me into a panic and I, by divine intervention I believe, was put in touch with someone whose husband was on SCD and had been told by their GI after being on the diet, "I must have misdiagnosed your husband. I see no sign of the disease." We immediately started the diet. About 5 weeks ago my husband had what the hospital said was a partial blockage and was hospitalized for one day and put on prednisone. We just had my husbands colonoscopy and we are ELATED and BLESSED to hear from the same GI that "whatever you are doing, keep on doing it" and that the colon was NORMAL. There was no ulcer and no narrowed area - he was able to get the scope through! To see pictures of a normal looking colon after only 11 months on SCD is truly a blessing!!!! My husband is so happy to feel like he is in control again! Now we will begin the process of weaning him off of the meds.
