Sometimes a lot of incremental symptoms are the first ones to disappear, things you weren't even sure were related, and they vanish so completely, sometimes you forget all about them almost immediately. > > Oh, and my wife and I blanched five poounds of almonds yesterday by > hand, you know, the whole boiling water over the nuts, then squeeze > them out of the skin. It was murder. I'm buying blanched almonds > next time. Speaking of almonds, Honeyville is having a 10% of your entire order sale - and their shipping is really low. That's for blanched almond flour, really nice quality: http://store.honeyvillegrain.com/blanchedalmondflour5lb.aspx Simply enter the coupon code NEWHOME09 during checkout. Just wondering. Most people do see some results in a month. What Elaine said was that she had to set some kind of limitation on it, and chose " one month " as being something that most people could commit to. Typically, people feel enough better, even if all their symptoms have no resolved (and healing DOES take time!) that they are then willing to commit to another month, and another month, and another month. Kind of like the Alcoholics Anonymous motto of " one day at a time. " If you tell someone that they must give up all their accustomed food forever and ever and ever, it's entirely too daunting. But if you take it in shorter periods of time, it's dealable. For myself, I'd say 6-9 months, because there is often a flare around 3 months when the bad bacteria fight back against the evil person starving them out, which can cause some folks to say, " Oh, SCD doesn't work! Look at this awful flare I'm in. " And yes, it's a method of eating which IS healthful and sensible. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Having been on it three weeks, I still crave stuff, but I feel like there's no going back. I don't care if I see no improvement at the end of one month, this diet makes too much sense. It's not even a matter of 'will it heal my crohn's' but getting rid of all refined sugars and carbs and industrial foods that I want to maintain. I just need some land where I can grow my own almonds. Yay for you!! That's how I feel too. I'm at almost 4 months, and this fourth month has been pretty awful. I think it's just the longest 3-month flare ever, although I think someone on here had a 6-week three month flare. Not to discourage you or anything. But I agree that the diet needs more time to see if it's working than one month.
