Guest guest
Hi Tom, I would say that it's the cheating that is giving you problems. Every time you ingest something SCD illegal, you feed the bad bacteria. We want to starve them... Do you have a food diary? You will need to try different foods (and supplements) a little at a time and write the results. Write everything and go slowly. Eventually you'll figure out what works for you because we are all different. Good luck, GERDS and chronic C. But that was 5 days ago.

But that was 5 days ago. I'm thinking it must be the yogurt, though, since the cramping starts fairly soon after eating. Well, we've all had our moments of weakness. The trick is not to beat yourself up over it -- and not to blame SCD when it may be long term effects of the illegal. Remember that the idea of SCD is to starve the bad bacteria out. So the weak ones die first. Then you shove in a load of their favorite food. The stronger ones reproduce, and the population is that much harder to starve out. Now you are putting in probiotics, which battle the bad bacteria (whom you just fed) for space. Is it surprising that your gut is having fits with the Battle of the Bacteria going on down there, and the bad bacteria dying off, and complaining, and demanding their accustomed food? Some people take only probiotics. Some people do only yogurt. Some people do both. I tend to go back and forth. I always have Lyosan on hand. I take s. boulardii regularly. When I have yogurt, I eat yogurt. When I don't, I do the Lyosan. I did about 90% yogurt prior to Hurricane Katrina. Then, after the storm, even once power was restored, I couldn't count on consistent power to make yogurt, so I did mostly Lyosan. Now it's whenever. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
