Imagine my surprise when I learned that they had only put it into their system 4 days prior to my calling! They had had it for almost a month before they even entered it into their system! I thought that was outrageous and told them so, but of course, they didn't care; they just passed the buck. It is of course, nobody's fault according to them. I think they have 1 person to bring the mail in, 1 person to put the mail in the mail room, 1 person to sort the mail, 1 person to open the mail and 1 person to distribute the mail, etc. It's about the stupidest system I've encountered! You'd think they were the government! Anyway, after that I called every couple of days and got an answer within a week, then it took another week to get a copy of the letter in my hand. Unfortunately it was a denial, but we couldn't appeal until we had a copy of the letter. Now we are going to appeal. I had hoped to have surgery in early Summer. Now I doubt that will happen. I don't even know if I'll get to have surgery this Summer at all. They will most likely approve another procedure, but denied the DS, saying it was " investigational " . What a rip-off! If I were you, I'd give them 1 week, then I'd start calling often, to pressure them. I heard that each time someone handles your call it moves your file to the top, so the more often you call, the more likely you are to get them moving on it. Guest guest
Pam, I'm pre-op and am still waiting on my insurance, so I can't help you with an answer to your question. However if it will make you feel any better, I'll bite my nails along with you while we both wait! Really though, I understand your panicked sort of mood. What I've been trying to do is just concentrate on making myself as healthy as possible before surgery(eating healthy and walking)so when it gets here, I know I've made the Doc's job just a little easier. It makes me feel like I'm doing something productive that I can think about instead of the insurance. At the worst, I'm feeling better even if there is a delay and at best, I'm in good shape for the surgery. Hope this helps, I know you'll find what works for you. Good luck and lots of patience.
