Guest guest
I had my gallbladder removed 13 years ago and have never experienced any trouble at all with gas or different bowel habits. I did gain lot of weight afterward, and am not sure if it's a coincidence or not. Anyone out there know about gallbladder removal and weight gain going together? > Hi All, > > Got a question as I wait for a surgery date. Guest guest
- I have not had surgery(yet!). But I had my gallbladder out in 1998 after losing 70 lbs in 5 months- go figure! Anyhow, I had problems and still do! The gallbladder stores bile which is an emulsifier that surrounds fats and allows them to be broken down. Anyhow, the purpose of the gallbladder is to have extra bile on hand if an extra-fatty meal is eaten. It then adds some additional bile to what is normally produced. I notice when I eat something like Mcs(with fries and all) which I don't do very often- I am running for the bathroom right quick afterwards. This happens with other greasy stuff, too. The good news is that it has gotten much better than it was in the beginning. You are only a year out so it may get better for you, as well. I, too, am curious what the results will be when(if) I have surgery! Take care and good luck! Amy Y. Fremont, CA > Hi All, > > Got a question as I wait for a surgery date. Guest guest
I had my gall bladder out in 1988 and have urgency immiediately after eating anthing fatty too. Dr Welker told me this improves dramatically after the DS, and he explained exactly why...but dang if I can remember the details.
