Guest guest
Hi Joann, It is my understanding that the lap part is for the laproscopic part of the surgery which are the small (about 1 inch) incisions (I have 3, my sister has 5) where they put their instruments in. The assisted part is where they have to put their hand, probably in order to handle the stomach, and to measure & reattach the intestines. That incision is about 4-5 inches. It's usually just large enough for the dr's hand to fit through. Hope that helped. Good luck with your surgery. I'll be thinking about you. Cheri > Hey Cheri, > One of the questions I was going to ask Dr. Kim when I see him Thursday was > what lap-assisted means exactly; what parts are done with lap scope and what > part with hands. And especially what that means for incisions. Maybe I can > find out sooner from you?? Thanks. > Joann > 04/20/
