Guest guest
- The basic difference between the 2 surgeries is that the classic BPD bypasses the pyloric valve and the DS keeps the pyloric valve intact and functioning. The intestinal bit is the same in both. The pyloric valve is the valve at the bottom of the stomach that regulates the release of food into the intestine. If it is bypassed, food will enter the intestines as soon as it hits the stomach and not be regulated by anything. Both surgeries are effective with regards to long term weight loss. The difference is merely in the way food hits the intestine after leaving the stomach. Let me know if you need further clarification, OK? Take care!
