Pam,

i found journaling on fitday.com was easier for me to keep track of

everything. It is a great site and free to use the journal for your

food intake.

Timewise I had orientation on november 17th (with the other Pam) and

had surgery on January 31st and she on February 7th or 8th i think. We

both did really well losing our weight and so everything went pretty

quickly. now they change their process all the time so who knows.

good luck.

Robin, too bad you're still on morpheine! I didn't even hardly have to be

on it in the hospital, in fact the only reason I took any after Thursday,

during the day, was so that I could sleep. I had a hard time sleeping in

the hospital, just as I always do. Sorry you're still in pain and I hope

you feel better soon. LaWanda At 05:22 PM 6/11/05, you wrote:

Actually, I'm kidding. I only hit the little button 8 times while I was there IN ...the nurse said most people would be up to 38 or so. I have been taking the syrup (is it Vicodin?) every 5 or 6 hours, though...so, I do have some pain still! but it isn't horrible...LaWanda Ezell wrote:

Hi Pam-

Gosh not going through Richmond I cant answer that for you. In south san francisco we were suppose to journal everything but honestly I didnt really do it that way, i just sort of was conscience of everything, if i had a week i didnt do well, then i wrote it down in a little notebook of my own i could keep in my purse and tried to pinpoint bad choices i might of made. I am sure other people will respond about the time frame thing. You might get better responses on the weekdays rather than the weekend.............and if you are interested i have a free 30 day pass to golds gym.

good luck

That's good, I never even cracked my bottle of pain stuff, mine was liquid

Tylenol with Codeine, until last Tuesday, when I had a horrible ache in my

right eye! That stuff didn't even make a dint, but when I took some

Vicadin that I had around here from something else, it helped a lot. The

syrup is really nasty tasting! LaWanda At 06:13 PM 6/11/05, you wrote:

I had my nutrition class about a month after my orientation and my

appointment with Dr. Baggs about a month after that. If you can get

your 10% off by the time you have appointment with your surgeon,

they'll get you in to surgery quick. I took my time (not purposely)

losing my 10%. It took me a full 6 months to lose 35 pounds. That's

okay, I was so ready for surgery and their wasn't a doubt in my

mind. In hindsight, I'm glad it took me that long so I could be the

most prepared as possible for this incredibly journey. The nutrition

class is boring (I thought) and they didn't tell me any thing I

didn't already know (I researched the surgery for 3 years).

Good job on 1200 calorie diet plan! I never did the 1200 plan. I did

2 herbalife shakes a day and one colorful meal. That got me to my

goal.

I also didn't journal anything the entire time. I had journaled for

so many years with WW I just couldn't do it anymore. They never

looked at them. I think if you are having trouble and want to meet

with Beth later, it's a good idea to journal everything so she can

make suggestions.

Hi-

I had my surgery in SSF on May 25th and felt really proud that I

only hit my button a couple of times, mainly when I was preparing to

get out of bed and was afraid it might hurt. Then I found out that

there was a constant drip as well, so even when I didn't push there

was some in my system. Oh well...

You might want to save a bit of Vicodin for the visit when you have

your staples removed. Although a person who had WLS the same day I

did told me her staple removal was a breeze, I was glad I took a

dose before hand, because a couple of the staples were a bit

stubborn. It wasn't bad at all, but it was nice to have something

take the edge off. It's funny though to read about how careful the

surgeons were about putting on butterfly bandages and taking care of

the wounds b/c Dr. Umbach just slapped on a couple of gauze pads and

secured them with what felt like 10 feet of paper tape. I looked

like I had been bandaged by a three year old.

Good luck with your continued recovery - mine has been very

uncomplicated so far :)
