Guest guest
It's most likely a virus, and there are a lot of viruses that can cause mouth ulcers. They can be pretty painful and last a while- about 10 days. Remember, there are 2 kind of herpes viruses- the one that causes cold sores and mouth sores is not generally an STD. There is probably not much " legal' you can put on it, but gargling with warm salt water might help. My son has one on his mouth right now too. They're common, but miserable. Guest guest
I always got sores in my mouth (tongue or inside lips/cheeks) when I had low folate. After a blood test confirmed it, I started taking folic acid and B12, it went away. I suggest getting your folate and B12 levels tested by your doctor to see if that might be an answer. I woudln't suggest just supplementing with folic acid, which can mask anemia symptoms. Best to check by blood test first to see if you're deficient. Kat > > I now have a huge ulcer on my tongue.
