Guest guest
I wanted to show you gardeners one of my good ideas gone awry. Years ago in Texas we had a little patio out back & the sun just beat down on it all afternoon. It was too hot to cook out & heated up my bedroom. So I got the idea of making a morning glory patio roof. My mother-in-law always grew morning glories up strings on the side of her front porch to shade it. I tied several lengths of twine to the garage roof & ran it across to the top of a 6' wood fence. As you can see, it started out pretty well, but I didn't realize how heavy those vines & flowers would get! We had to stoop over to get in the house, but it did shade my bedroom window & cool it off! If I ever try it again, I'll use a heavy-dury lattice or something.
