Guest guest
Sandy, I know exactly how you feel! I felt the exact same way. I wanted to sleep until it was over. I still have severe energy problems, but that's another story. When I was immediate post-op and sick as a dog w/the diarhea. Everyone kept saying " Walk, walk, and walk " I started to get really ticked off. I felt like death and they wanted me to walk! Well, what Delphine said was what finally got to me. She said you have to trick your body. If you lay around and feel sick, act sick, talk sick well your body is going to stay sick. What you need to do is starting acting better, walking, exercising (even though you feel sick and week)! Honestly, I thought no way. Well, it actually helped. I just power walked 15 minutes a day. It actually got the blood moving and the muscles going and I felt more awake. I didn't feel totally okay, but it didn't help me turn a corner in my recovery. I hope this helps and I hope for a speedy recovery! Brigid
Guest guest
One of the things Dr Ren has on a list is extreme tiredness can be a cause of not getting enough fluids in. You must force yourself to drink fluids. Also are you taking your vitamins and calcium? I am only 4 weeks out and I can tell when I do not get enough fluids in. I am legarthic. It is more important to get the fluids in than it is to get in food. You can live without food for months but you can only live for days without fluids. Remember jello and popcycles count as a fluid. I know it is hard but you need 60 ounces of fluids per day. Sounds like a lot but if you rinse out a bottle of soda (20 oz) and refill with water/crystal lite/tea etc. 3 times in one day you have done it. I have 3 bottles and fill half full of water and put it in the freezer. After it is frozen I fill with water and have a cold drink next to me at all times. Good luck, Viau, Switched 3/29/01 www.angelfire.com/on/wannabemagic/WLS.html BCBSM PPODr Ren, NYUMC http://www.thinforlife.orgMaximum weight 325lost 9 lbs prior to surgeryPre-Surgery weight: 3164/28/01: 283 (-33 lbs)42 pounds gone forever
