Terri,

You might try calling your DS doctor's office and seeing if they can provide

you with some names of PCP's who have referred patients to them. Since you

are not in the same area, this is a long shot, but this advice may help

someone out there. It is always easier to try to get into the network that

your surgeon is in than to try and get an out of network approval.

Another approach might be to call some of the PCP's from your provided

directory and talk to their nurse or to them, if possible, about their views

on morbid obesity treatments.

Post on all the lists (including the RNY lists) to see if anyone from your

area has been referred for WLS by a PCP in your provider directory.

I had to change IPAs and PCPs in order to have Dr. Anthone be in network. I

picked a local doctor and was lucky. He referred me on my first visit, after

prescribing me blood pressure meds and acid reflux meds.

I was very informed and completely committed to having this surgery when I

went to my new PCP. I also took him my med records, my own family medical

history, diet history and information on the DS.

Hope this helps. My best to you.

Love,

Marisa
