Guest guest
Best? Best sources for protein? Don't know what constitutes best... Meat, Fish, Poultry, Nuts, legumes(beans& peas), Shitaki mushrooms, soy, milk, eggs, cheese, pretty much covers it. Any exchange diet book you have ought to have a comprehensive list. Some of the vegatable sources don't have complete amino acids, so combining beans with cheese gives complete coverage. Shitaki Mushies are the exception-- they oddly do have the amino acids that vegie stuff usually is missing. Good luck, Nan E. --- Donna B gragama@...> wrote: > Hello, > > I was wondering if there is, or does anyone have a list of the best 5 > sources of protein? > > Thanks, > Donna B > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >

Guest guest
Nan, the idea that incomplete amino acid content of foods requires combinations has been debunked. It is still in the older books and secondary sources, unfortunately. For protein content there are numerous online sources. Try: Mike's Calorie And Fat Gram Chart For 1000 Foods SORTED BY PROTEIN CONTENT http://www.ntwrks.com/~mikev/chart3a.htm Protein Content of Selected Vegan Foods http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm Someone posted an excellent protein site previously that I am unable to locate. Sorry. Hope it is reposted. Would be quite useful. in Seattle ----- Original Message ----- > Best? Best sources for protein? Don't know what constitutes best... Guest guest
Thanks, -- I hate operating on old worn out useless data-- Will revise data bank re: protein post haste. Unfortnately, I really like cheese with my beans and not with my shitaki mushrooms, now I have to find another rationalization....Nan E. --- Montgomery marym@...> wrote: > Nan, > the idea that incomplete amino acid content of foods requires combinations > has been debunked. Guest guest
LOL and to think I've always thought " because I like it that way " was adequate rationale. ----- Original Message ----- > Thanks, -- I hate operating on old worn out useless data-- Will revise data > bank re: protein post haste.
