My little 5 year old niece has been diagnosed with this illness -- we have a ton of autoimmune issues in my family, and I know SCD can be helpful for a lot of that. Guest guest
Hi , In the forward to the Elaine's book Dr. R Hoffman mentions arthritis as being helped by SCD. I would think that since rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease as is Crohn's, etc. it would help. Take care, Pat FOREWORD TO THE BOOKby L. Hoffman, M.D. As I began placing patients on the “Specific Carbohydrate Diet™,†using Food and the Gut Reaction as a comprehensive guide, I became impressed with the results. Many patients with Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome and even refractory constipation, found relief although their progress had been stymied previously with elaborate but unsuccessful elimination schemes. The clinical value of the “Specific Carbohydrate Diet™†was unquestionable, but, interestingly, I began to notice other unanticipated benefits. Patients with muscle aches, stiff joints and, even full-blown arthritis, registered a distinct diminution of symptoms. Headaches, chronic skin rashes, psoriasis, generalized fatigue and “spaciness†were alleviated. Elaine Gottschall’s diet had probably reduced intestinal toxicity.
