Guest guest
Hello, I am 5 weeks post-op from the DS and would love some feedback... the support group in my area has lost it's group leader and I am looking for anyone in the Sonoma County area, (CA) who would be interested in getting together (either just via email or attending a group - I'm willing to lead it and do it at my home). I have had, to date, no support following my surgery and have had a miserable time. I have had nausea/vomiting and feeling lousy since week 2 and I had to call the doctor again yesterday and had an appointment to see the nurse this morning in SF at 9 am - have not been feeling well at all - getting worse for about a week -- light headed, passing out, short of breath, nausea and vomiting, etc. etc.... They say I am dehydrated, not getting enough protein due to the vomiting, they took me off the pre-natal vitamins (too much iron too soon) and put me on childrens chewables, gave me a new medicine for gas and want me to start on a allergy pill to decrease the sinus drip that may be causing a lot of the nausea. I cant seem to handle any food, not more than 2 to 2 1/2 teaspoons at a time....the taste of a protein shake (and I've tried about 6 different ones) makes me nauseous. If I drink literally more than 2 sips of H2O or gatorade, I have excrutiating gas for at least a half an hour. I am soooooooo thirsty, but cant seem to get enough to drink. My taste is off, nothing sounds, looks or tastes good. I'm trying to maintain the protein rich sources, but have only been able to eat about 3 times a day... and so I'm not getting enough of protein....the good news is...? I HATE FOOD! Never thought I'd live to say those words! Help! Anyone out there have any ideas about how to get thru this? I am uncomfortable all the time, have zero stamina - I walk to the bathroom and have to take a nap! God bless to all of you that have undergone this and/or similar and to those looking into it - even with feeling lousy this whole post-op period - I would do it again in a heartbeat!
