Guest guest
My 14 year old son with UC just started the SCD two weeks ago. Everything is going well. I started baking some pecan butter " treats " a few days ago out of desperation to get more calories in him and he has not negatively reacted at all. (In fact, his stools are firming up even more the past couple of days.) Yesterday, we were at a party all afternoon/evening and I hadn't counted on being gone for so long and we didn't have much variety of food. He was really hungry and ate some watermelon and grapes, which I know he's not supposed to have for a while longer. He's had no reaction at all. Does this mean he's lucky, or does it mean that maybe he's okay with raw fruits? I haven't let him have any more today, because I don't want there to be a problem with him for his first day of HS tomorrow. Now that he's had the watermelon and grapes he thinks he should be able to eat them as well, and I have a hard time forming an argument against it. So, should he go back to being limited to canned/cooked pears and applesauce or can we explore some raw fruits? Thanks, Liz
