Guest guest
My youngest son (14 months of chubby deliciousness) is developing well (slight motor delay...common in the boys of my family), growing VERY well and is perfectly chubby...the picture of health, in fact. However (duh duh DUUUUH, it is a big however) he cannot digest almost every fruit and vegetable I have given him. He is on a comprehensive digestive enzyme, per our DAN! doctor (who sees all my kids as their regular pediatrician, two birds with one stone, ya know). Even with the enzymes the only thing he eat that do not cause MASSIVE mushy, foul smelling poops full of undigested bits are the following: chicken beef pork very ripe bananas diluted grape juice scrambled egg small amounts of pureed (not just mashed) applesauce small amounts of raw but VERY ripe pear (discovered this in a desperate moment when the older boys had eaten everything else and all I had left was raw pears, which the older boys dislike in any form) homemade Italian tomato sauce I even let him have a nut flour muffin or pancake about once a day and that doesn't seem to bother him, though I worry about dev. an allergy. When he has carrots, green beans, peas, squash, avocado, broccoli (haven't actually tried this one, seems highly unlikely that it would be okay)...they all give him major issues, even very well cooked and pureed. These are the only vegetables the older boys can tolerate AND like so I haven't ventured beyond them, zucchini and yellow squash are the kiss of death with the big boys and I am AFRAID to give them to Alec, he is so sensitive I imagine he might burst into flame, lol sort of. What do y'all think...can he stay healthy on so few fruits and veggies, notwithstanding that so far he seems VERY HEALTHY? Are there veggies that are likely to be digested easier that I am not thinking of? He is big time breastfed...when he wakes up in the morning and at nap and bedtime and probably twice a day sometimes more in addition. He doesn't have any issue with energy or growth or weight. In fact, he is above the growth chart in the 99th percentile. Still....I worry. Thanks, Chrissy mama to 3 boys on SCD 3 months and doing well
