Guest guest
It has been just over 3 months since I've had DS surgery. Before and during this time, I have told very few people that I had WLS, and those that knew about it at work have refused to acknowledge it in any way. They (work friends with whom I also socialize with outside of work) have not once asked me if I was okay, how I was feeling, nothing. So I have had very little feedback as to whether or not my weight loss is noticeable. Of course those outside of work (family and friends) that I told about the surgery have mentioned that they can tell I'm loosing weight, but this week I finally have started to receive compliments from people that have no idea that I had any type of wls at all. I have had to lose 68 pounds before my loss has been noticed enough to be commented on. Have any of you experienced the same reactions from others? Actually, I only told one co-worker/friend that I was having surgery because she had just been diagnosed with Diabetes and she was even larger than me. I thought I would try and help her out by telling her about this option that has helped so many others and cured some people's Diabetes. She immediately told me that she had a friend who had undergone stomach stapling and that her friend had gained all her weight back and that she wouldn't do such a thing to her body. After that I never mentioned it again and felt like an idiot for offering her a solution in the first place. Unfortunately, she can't keep a secret even though I asked her not to tell anyone else that I was having this surgery and she ended up telling a couple of other people that I know at work about my surgery because they mentioned that they knew the reason I was going off work to have surgery. Not one of those people will acknowledge my weight loss now even though I'm swimming in my clothes. The whole situation would be funny if it wasn't so sad! I'm sorry that I told ANYONE at work that I was having this done.
