Guest guest
Just wondering if any of you who have had the BPD/DS Surgery and who have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome/Disease have found their symptoms lessened after surgery. My surgery is not until 5 November 2001 - 26 and a half weeks away not that I'm counting), and I have gainsed 7.5 pounds since Christmas - as I have not been as disciplined as usual with my eating habits. Anyway to cut to the chase I found a health article which recomends that Metformin(Glucophage) a Type 2 diabetes drug, is now being prescribed for womem with PCOS. It improves the body's sensitivity to insulin (a symptom of PCOS) and with it patients can lose weight, lower cholesterol and blood pressure. Now I'm not saying that this will cure my morbid obesity - but it may help me to lose a few pounds prior to surgery - which is what I want to do desperately. Any thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated. And any of you who have had/or have diabetes what exaclty is this drug.
